Care Coordination for Adult Patients

Olivia's research focuses on the role of artifacts, both analog and digital technology, in chronic disease management routines, particularly in the context of patient care at home. She collaborates with Tiffany Veinot and others to explore how technology can better align with existing coordination mechanisms in home-based care. Additionally, Olivia is working with Laurie Buis, Timothy Guetterman, and other researchers in the medical school to assess the needs of patients and families managing multiple chronic conditions at home, aiming to design informatics tools that cater to their perspectives and requirements. Her work also addresses the challenges faced by low-income patients in affording complex medications, and she collaborates with industry researchers to study patient-centered interventions. Olivia's research has been recognized, with her publication in the Journal of American Medical Informatics Association receiving the prestigious Editor's Choice Award in 2022.
