Researcher, Educator, Dog Mom
Olivia is a qualitative researcher and educator. She obtained her B.S. in Mathematics at Penn State University, as a Millennium Scholar and went on to earn her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan School of Information. She studied Human-Computer Interaction. Her dissertation addressed the role of digital technology in the everyday lives of children and provides design implications for health-centered digital media.
Most recently, Olivia has engaged youth daily, teaching high school mathematics full-time for the 2024-25 school year in Joppa, Maryland.
Throughout her research career, she has conducted mixed-methods research at the University of Michigan, Penn State University, Indiana University, and the University of Washington. She completed research internships at Parkview Health Systems, Michigan Medicine, and PBS KIDS. She also did a project management technology internship at AllianceBernstein.
Olivia was born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. She attended E.L. Meyers High School, where she was a member of the nationally recognized debate team, the drum major for the marching band, and the Salutatorian of the Class of 2015.
Olivia and her husband currently live near Baltimore, Maryland. In her free time, you can typically find Olivia tutoring children in math, studying wine, working out at Orangetheory Fitness, or taking a walk with her dogs, Jean Grey and Bruno.
